Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

First Minute Goal All Hawks Needed

PALATINE, IL-  The Harper College men's soccer team traveled to Madison, Wisconsin on Friday to take on the Madison College WolfPack.  In a drama-filled game, the Hawks came away with a 1-0 victory.

In a game that was sure to be a close one throughout, Harper started the fireworks early when Jose Garcia-Lopez (Wheeling) scored off an assist from Pedro Botello (Rolling Meadows) just 47 seconds into the match.  That would not be the last chance that Harper had in the first half as the Hawks ripped off 10 shots, 5 of which were on frame.  Harper goalkeeper Kevin Sieb (Huntley) was up to the task of keeping the shutout as he saved both shots put his way.

The tide changed in the second half when Madison was able to put up eight shots, four on target, but Sieb once again would keep the WolfPack off the board.  After all was said and done, the Hawks came away with the 1-0 shutout victory.

The win moved the Hawk's record to 6-4-2 and put their N4C record at 5-4-1.  Harper's next match will be at home on Friday as they host the Spartans from Elgin Community College.  Kick-off is scheduled for 4pm.
