PALATINE, IL- The 2-seeded Harper College men's soccer team played host to the 3-seed Madison College WolfPack in the Region IV Semifinals on Tuesday. In the third matchup between the two teams, the Hawks stayed perfect with a 4-1 victory.
Harper got things started off quickly with two
Jose Garcia-Lopez (Wheeling) goals in the first 45 seconds of the match. The first goal was assisted by
Ricardo Gonzalez (Palatine). The WolfPack would cut the deficit in half with a 5th minute goal. The Hawks would answer back to expand back to their two-goal lead on an unassisted goal by
Matthew Austin (Fremd) in the 26th minute.
The score would remain 3-1 in Harper's favor through the end of the first half and the beginning of the second until
Pedro Botello (Rolling Meadows) put the match out of reach with a 73rd minute goal. The Hawks would hold on to the 4-1 lead the rest of the way, clinching their spot in the Region IV Finals.Â
Kevin Sieb (Huntley)Â received the win in goal for the Hawks, saving 3 shots and only allowing 1 goal.
With the win and Elgin Community College upsetting the 1-seed Triton College Trojans, the Hawks will host the Region IV Finals on Saturday. Harper will host the Spartans at 12pm.
