PALATINE, IL- The Harper College women's soccer team hosted the Rock Valley College Golden Eagles in the first round of the Region IV Championship Tournament. The hosting Hawks defeated the Golden Eagles in dominating fashion, completing an 8-0 shutout.
The scoring started early and often for Harper as
Julia Szylke () scored twice in the first 6 minutes for a quick 2-0 lead. In the next 20 minutes, the Hawks would score twice more, once from
Chloe Serviss (/Huntley) and another from Szylke giving the Hawks a strong 4-0 lead heading into the break. The second half score remained the same until Szylke struck once again, this time in the 68th minute on an assist from
Jordan Biez ()e.Â
Morgan Ragusin (Elk Grove Village/Conant) got in on the fun 10 minutes later as she extended the score to 6-0 in the Hawks' favor. The final two tallies came once again from Szylke in the 81st and 89th minute, putting the seal on Harper's 8-0 victory.
The win puts the Hawks against the Joliet Junior College Wolves in the Region IV Semifinals on Saturday. The 3-seed Hawks will have to travel to the 2-seed Wolves for the match.
