PALATINE, IL-  The #9 ranked Harper College volleyball team took part in the Region IV Championship Tournament at Harper on Saturday. 

The Hawks defeated the MATC Stormers on Wednesday and were faced with the task of taking on Madison College, who were awarded with the #2 seed following a tie-break vote.  Harper was able to run through Madison for the second time is as many matches and advanced to the Region IV Final against Rock Valley College.  RVC was the Achilles' heel to the Hawks all season long, having won the previous 3 meetings between the two teams.  Harper did not have an answer to the Golden Eagles and their season ended with a 3-set sweep.
 
Despite the Hawks' season ending without a national tournament berth, it was still another successful season for Harper.  Coach Bob Vilsoet said, "This has to be considered a successful season.  Harper was ranked in the top-10 every week and finished the season ranked #9.  Harper finished in 2^nd place in the tough N4C and finished 2^nd in Division III Region IV.  [We are] high likely the second-best team behind the team that ends up as the National Championship runner-up team."
 
Harper ended the season 23-14 overall and 9-3 in conference.
