Harper College watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 9-4 loss to College of Lake County on Wednesday. College of Lake County scored on a single by Brayden Gilbour and a sacrifice fly by Evan Henry in the first inning.
College of Lake County opened up scoring in the first inning, when Gilbour singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.
Harper College notched four runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught started with a basehit by
Ehinger Adrianza (Miami, FL/Felix Varela Senior High), followed by consecutive walks to
Michael Budorick (Glenview, IL/Glenbrook South) and
Micah O'Neal (Forest Park, IL/Guerin Prep High School).
Justin Cappis (Chicago, IL/Niles North) delivered the big hit with a base clearing, three run double off the outfield fence. Cappis came around to score a couple pitches later on a passed ball.
College of Lake County scored three runs in the third inning. College of Lake County big bats were led by Gilbour, Ryan Risch, and Tommy Stricklin, who all drove in runs.
Casey Kedzierski was on the pitcher's mound for College of Lake County. The pitcher lasted three and a third innings, allowing three hits and four runs while striking out three.
JT Adams (Huntley, IL/Huntley High School) was on the hill for Harper College. The righty went five innings, allowing six runs on nine hits and striking out four.
Connor FitzGerald (Chicago, IL/Lake View High School),
Antonio DeBartolo (Arlington Heights, IL/Rolling Meadows High School), and
Steven Byrne (Schaumburg, IL/Schaumburg High School) each contributed in relief for Harper College.
Ehinger Adrianza (Miami, FL/Felix Varela Senior High), Cappis,
Micah O'Neal (Forest Park, IL/Guerin Prep High School), and
Nic Castrovillari (Hanover Park, IL/Bartlett High School) each collected one hit to lead Harper College.
College of Lake County collected 13 hits. Tyler Swanson, Risch, Gilbour, and Valentin Cerna Jr. each managed multiple hits for College of Lake County.
