It came down to the last play, but Harper College was on the wrong end of a 12-11 defeat to Milwaukee Area Tech on Sunday. The game was tied at 11 with the Stormers batting in the bottom of the seventh when Scotty Savage's sac fly scored one run for Stormers Baseball.
Ehinger Adrianza (Miami, FL/Felix Varela Senior High) collected four hits in defeat. Adrianza singled in the third, tripled in the fourth, singled in the fifth, and doubled in the seventh.
In the first inning, Harper College got their offense started when
Micah O'Neal (Forest Park, IL/Guerin Prep High School) singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
Harper College put up five runs in the third inning. Harper College put the pressure on, lead by singles by
Michael Budorick (Glenview, IL/Glenbrook South) and
Tommy Jusi (Hoffman Estates, IL/Fremd High School) and a double by
Kyle Odeshoo (Arlington Heights, Illinois/Prospect High School).
Cameron Drury took the win for MATC. Drury allowed one hit and zero runs over one inning, striking out one. Trent Forehand and Pierce Nelson entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Stevie Churak (Fox River Grove, IL/Cary Grove High School) took the loss for Harper College. The righthander allowed two hits and two runs over one-third of an inning, walking zero.
JT Adams (Huntley, IL/Huntley High School) started the game for Harper College. The righty lasted five innings, allowing eight hits and seven runs while striking out two Peyton Becker started the game for Stormers Baseball. The righty surrendered seven runs on six hits over two and a third innings, striking out one
Harper College totaled 13 hits in the game. Adrianza and O'Neal all had multiple hits for Harper College. Adrianza went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Harper College in hits.
The Hawks will be back in action to open up N4C play as they travel down to Joliet Junior College. The first pitch of the double header is scheduled for 1:30 PM.
