Hawks Volleyball Defeated Elgin for Season Sweep

Match Recap: Harper vs. Elgin (October 15, 2024)
Harper College Volleyball defeated Elgin in four sets on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Triton College. The Hawks secured the win with scores of 25-18, 25-9, 22-25, 25-16.

Set 1: Harper took control in the first set, holding a 15-10 lead midway through. Elgin closed the gap to 19-16, but a late surge, including a highlight reel smash at 23-18 from Mira Tchohadjieva, pushed Harper to a 25-18 win. Tchohadjieva led the attack with 5 kills on 8 attempts. Evie Mounts and Morgan Krieter each contributed 3 kills, while setter Emerson Trejo dished out 11 assists. Defensively, Abby Major and Mounts recorded 5 digs apiece.
Set 2: The Hawks dominated the second set, quickly establishing an 11-5 lead and cruised to a 25-9 victory. Tchohadjieva and Krieter each added 3 kills. Trejo continued her strong play, tallying 8 assists and serving 11-for-11 with 2 aces.
Set 3: Elgin fought back in the third set, holding a narrow lead late and pulling ahead 18-23. Harper battled to close the gap to 22-23, but Elgin held on to win 25-22. Abbie Greenberg and Krieter led Harper's offense with 3 kills each, while Trejo added 9 assists. Greenberg also served 4-for-4 with 2 aces, and Kaylee Obrzut was perfect from the line, going 5-for-5 with an ace.
Set 4: Harper rebounded in the fourth set, jumping out to a 13-7 lead and maintaining control to close out the match with a 25-16 win. Tchohadjieva had another strong showing with 5 kills on 6 attacks, and Phoebe Kim stepped in with 11 assists. On serving, Taylor Coutts and Maya Sokolowski both went 5-for-5.
