Hawks Volleyball Rallies to Win 3 Straight Games Against DuPage

In a four-set match, Harper College (D2) secured a 3-1 victory over College of DuPage (D3) with scores of 19-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-18. Harper's offense and defense came alive after a slow start in the first set, ultimately defeating DuPage.

The opening set featured nine ties, with both teams trading points consistently until a 14-14 deadlock. However, DuPage capitalized on key moments and pulled away to take the set 19-25.
Mira Tchohadjieva contributed 2 kills and 3 blocks, while Lauren Ahlstedt added 3 kills and a block. On defense, Abby Major anchored the back row with 7 digs.

Harper responded strongly in the second set, pulling ahead after a 10-10 tie and maintaining control to win 25-19.
Evie Mounts heated up with 4 kills and a block, while Maya Sokolowski was efficient with 4 kills on just 6 attacks. Defensively, Taylor Coutts recorded 5 digs, and both Coutts and Major were flawless from the service line, going 6-6 each.

In the third set, Harper took command midway through the game and held off a late surge by DuPage to win 25-22.
Mounts once again came through with 5 kills and 5 digs, while Tchohadjieva delivered 5 kills on 6 attacks. Major added another 7 digs to her tally, and Morgan Krieter contributed a perfect 6-6 serving performance.

Harper controlled the fourth and final set, racing to a 21-13 lead and closing out the match 25-18.
Ahlstedt led the attack with 5 kills, while Krieter added 3 kills and Sokolowski contributed 2 kills along with several key blocks. Major tallied 8 digs in the set, finishing with a match-high of 26 digs overall, and went 8-8 serving.

Stat Leaders:

Tchohadjieva and Mounts each had 10 kills, followed by Ahlstedt and Sokolowski with 9 kills apiece. Tchohadjieva also led the team with 4 blocks, while Sokolowski contributed 2. Defensively, Major recorded a match-high 26 digs, with Mounts (16), Krieter (14), and Coutts (13) also contributing significantly. Phoebe Kim dished out 43 assists. From the service line, Major was 19-19, Coutts 18-18, and Krieter 16-16.

Double-Double:

Mounts finished the match with 10 kills and 16 digs.


The Hawks will play next tomorrow against MATC at 7 PM at Reiman Gymnasium.
