Hawks Split Double-Header with Joliet

Joliet, IL: The Hawks' softball team split a double-header yesterday evening winning game one 8-7 but losing game two 9-12. Brianna Linnemann started in game one and earned her third win on the season while Olivia Gould started the second game.

Game 1
The Hawks flew straight into a 3-0 lead in the second inning and never looked back.
Amanda Ban singled to score Isabella Aviles. Two batters later, Linnemann hit a two run single to bring in Ban and Kate Peabody.

In the fourth, the Hawks added another run on a bunt from
Ella Brooks that scored Peabody to bring the score to 4-2. The Hawks added another run in the fifth as Taylor Goudschaal scored on a wild pitch.

The outcome was solidified in the sixth for the Hawks as
Aviles scored on an error while Goudschaal scored on a wild pitch two batters later.

Linnemann recorded her third win of the season on the mound pitching a complete game with five strikeouts. She also led the team with four hits and two RBIs.

Game 2
While the Hawks got out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, Joliet came hungry for revenge to score three in the bottom of the inning. From that point forward the Hawks kept scratching back to tie the game before Joliet would again take the lead.

Goudschaal hit a hard single in the first to score Linnemann.

Brooks was hit by a pitch and then Ban was walked, both with the bases loaded bringing in Cana Jones and Peabody making it 3-3.

Ban doubled in the fourth to bring in Linnemann and Goudschaal hit a sacrifice ground out to bring in Brooks on the next at-bat bringing it to 5-5.

Later in the fifth
Sammy Pracko hit a sacrifice ground out to bring home Jones and in the sixth the Hawks added another two with another sacrifice by Goudschaal and a single by Aviles that brought in Brooks and Ban. This brought the score to 8-9.

In the top of the seventh and the game on the line Brooks hit a double that scored
Kate Swiatkowski but Ban grounded out to end the game on the next at-bat.

Gould pitched six innings with four strikeouts in the loss.

The Hawks next game will be a double-header at home vs DuPage on Saturday.
