Hawks Drop Two in Double-Header at Olive-Harvey

Chicago, IL: The Hawks lost both in a double-header at DI opponent Olive-Harvey College on Saturday afternoon. The first game finished with in five innings with a score of 4-14 while the second game went all seven finishing 7-15.

Game 1
The game started off in the Hawks' favor with an error in the first by Olive-Harvey catcher Dawson Bochenek.
Samuel Del Valle stole third before coming home on the error. Kyle Odeshoo was at the plate at the time and hit a RBI single after the error to bring home Tommy Jusi to put the Hawks up 2-0.

Olive-Harvey tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the inning but
Josh Mathew singled in the second to score Luke Read to put the Hawks up 3-2.

The fifth is where things unraveled for the Hawks.
Quinton Johnston walked three batters in a row before throwing a wild pitch that allowed one runner in. Four pitches later the ball was put in play but Johnston had a throwing error to allow the runner to make it to first safely. Luckily, no runners scored on the play. Steven Byrne was then brought in as relief. He walked his first batter before hitting two batters in a row. The Hawks then brought in Antonio DeBartolo to try to get out of the jam they were in but immediately gave up a single that scored two. DeBartolo then walked a batter to join his teammates in the trend for the inning before allowing a bases clearing double. Logan Leber tried to change the tempo of the inning after that but walked his first batter before allowing a RBI single. He then forced a line out and struck out the next batter to change the momentum, but a RBI double in the next at-bat ended the game in five innings. The Hawks finished the inning with six walks and two hit batters allowing 12 runs. 

Game 2
The Hawks started game two with a lead as well after Read hit a RBI double that scored Odeshoo and Johnston.

In the second, Jusi doubled to make the score 3-1. 

Olive-Harvey got some things going in the third with a triple, single, and HBP that eventually led to three runs to give them a 3-4 lead. Once they had it, they never gave it up.

Other scoring plays for the Hawks included a sacrifice ground out in the fifth by
Brian Jensen that scored Johnston and three singles in the sixth by Jusi, Odeshoo, and Johnston that each scored a run (Cameron King, Cole Ratliff, Jusi).

Jermaine Salcedo earned the loss in the start going three and a third innings. He gave up five earned runs but struck out six. Mitchell Janczak, Joey Woods, and Joey Bisesi pitched as well.


The Hawks play next today at home vs MATC.
