Hawks Score 72 Against Waubonsee

Palatine, IL: The Hawks men's basketball team hosted Waubonsee Community College on December 18 and fought throughout, but the Chiefs pulled away in a high-scoring Region 4 matchup to earn a 128-72 victory. Waubonsee's efficient shooting and depth on both ends of the floor created challenges for Harper, particularly in the second half.

Harper was led offensively by Joe Calombo Kimbirima, who scored a team-high 21 points while knocking down two three-pointers and showing aggression on drives. Kevin Edgecombe added 12 points, 10 rebounds, and a pair of blocks with strong interior play, and Oscar Engfors posted 12 points on efficient shooting. Isaiah Manley scored eight points with two made threes, and Logan Arteaga and Darrion Pippen each added seven points and Anthony Hnilo scored five as part of a balanced effort.

Harper shot 38.6 percent from the field and connected on seven of 24 three-point attempts, but Waubonsee's discipline on offense and rebounding advantage helped the Chiefs build a lead early and extend it throughout the game. Harper also went 11-of-18 from the free throw line, but turnovers and quick transition scores allowed Waubonsee to stay in control in both halves.
