Hawks Close First Half of Season vs Sandburg

Palatine, IL: The Hawks women's basketball team concluded the first half of its 2025–26 season Saturday with a 95-51 loss at Carl Sandburg College. Sandburg took control early and delivered a decisive performance on both ends of the floor, while the Hawks competed throughout and showed effort that will benefit them as the season progresses.

Sandburg jumped out to a 30-9 first-quarter advantage and carried that momentum through all four periods, leading 53-23 at halftime before closing the contest with a commanding margin. Harper fought hard in the third quarter, outscoring Sandburg 23-24, but the Chargers' depth and scoring consistency proved difficult to overcome.

Kinsley Stillman and Gabriella Swanson each led the Hawks with 11 points, combining for a strong effort in scoring and rebounding. Stillman went 2-for-7 from the field and was 7-for-11 at the free throw line while pulling down 3 rebounds. Swanson was efficient, hitting 4 of 7 attempts and adding 9 rebounds. Marque Taylor contributed 10 points and 5 rebounds, and Zariela Myles added 6 points with 6 rebounds. Ariana Buss and Xzandria Turner provided secondary scoring and defensive energy, each finishing with 5 points. Hailey Franczkowski also hit a three-pointer in the contest.

Harper shot 30.5 percent from the field and 7.7 percent from three-point range, converting 14 of 31 free throws. Sandburg's balanced offense and efficient shooting helped fuel its victory.
