Hawks Tie for 3rd at Tadd Metzger

Kenosha, WI: The Hawks men's track and field team delivered a strong performance at the Tadd Metzger Invitational on Saturday, tying for third place with NCAA DIII Wheaton College with 108 points. The Hawks continue to demonstrate their hard work and steady improvement as they faced tough competition, with Carthage (NCAA DIII) taking the team title with 179 points and Dubuque (NCAA DIII) finishing second with 115.5 points.

Record-Breaking Sprints & Hurdles

Alek Ledezma continued his stellar season, improving his indoor 200m record for the Hawks by .03, clocking in at 22.75. He also made an impact in the 55m, running 6.53 to secure second place on the Hawks Indoor Top 10 Performance List (HIT10PL). Ledezma won the 55m and took second in the 200m.

Prince Ellington had a standout day, winning the 55m hurdles in 7.99, which places him second on the HIT10PL. He also finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 21' 11.75", another second-place ranking on the HIT10PL. Ellington's exceptional effort earned him Athlete of the Meet honors.

Notable Track Performances
The Hawks saw continued success on the track, with several athletes hitting qualifying marks for the 2025 NJCAA DIII National Championships.
Ivan Rodriguez ran 23.57 in the 200m to meet the qualifying standard. The 400m squad dominated, with Andrew Rashad (52.20) and Lucas McMillan (52.31) going 1-2, both achieving NJCAA qualifying marks. Anthony LoBue (5th, 53.01), Joel Jones (6th, 53.57), and Fortis Variano (7th, 54.16) added to the team's depth in the event.

Dakota White won the 800m in 2:02.52, securing a spot on the HIT10PL and qualifying for NJCAA Nationals. Zach Sheehan placed 8th in 2:07.43. In the 3k, Owen Whelan ran 9:07.39, earning a spot on the HIT10PL with his 7th-place finish. Tyler Thymian also impressed in the 55m hurdles with an 8.81, securing a place on the HIT10PL.

The 1600m relay team of
McMillan, Jones, Rodriguez, and Rashad clocked 3:31.73, moving into third place on the HIT10PL. Additional contributions came from Gianluca Manuel, Tyler Anderson, Devin Patel, and Nicholas Navarrete in the sprints, as well as Nate Larsen and Edwin Amaro in the 800m. RJ Moniri competed in the mile, while Ryan Golden, Jose Morales, Connor Ariunbat, Jason Schmidt, and Jerome Graessle took on the 3k.

Strong Performances in the Field Events

Stephen Osei moved up the HIT10PL in pole vault with a second-place finish at 13' 5.5". McMillan cleared 12' 11.5" for fifth place. Rashad placed third in the high jump at 5' 9.75".

Shamar Allwood continued to impress in the triple jump, placing fourth with a mark of 43' 9.75" and securing a higher ranking on the HIT10PL. Allwood and Seth Cohen also competed in the long jump, further solidifying the team's field event presence.

In the throws,
Rodolfo Martinez represented the Hawks in both shot put and weight throw, showcasing the team's well-rounded talent.

The Hawks' hard work and dedication are clearly paying off, with numerous athletes improving their marks and earning spots on the program's all-time performance lists. With momentum building, the team now sets its sights on the Chicagoland Indoor Championships at North Central this Saturday. Expect the Hawks to keep pushing their limits as they continue their indoor season.
