Hawks Fall in Home Doubleheader to Chiefs

Palatine, IL: The Hawks returned home on Wednesday but couldn't slow down the Waubonsee Chiefs, falling 13-3 in game one and 13-1 in game two. The pair of losses drops the Hawks to 3-13 on the season as they continue to navigate a tough NJCAA Region 4 schedule.

In game one,
Taylor Nicholson started in the circle, with Gabriella Phillis providing one inning of relief. Despite the loss, the Hawks saw solid performances at the plate from Nicholson and Gabriela Ward, who each had two hits. Ward drove in two runs with one of her hits going for a double, while Nicholson added an RBI of her own. Phillis also added to the Hawks' energy with a stolen base.

Game two saw
Meghan Meyer take the mound for Harper, but the Chiefs once again struck early and often to end the game in five innings. Nicholson continued her consistent offensive production, driving in the Hawks' lone run. Isabella Kmilek chipped in with two hits and added a stolen base to her stat line.

The Hawks now turn their attention to a major test on Friday as they host the #9 ranked Rock Valley Golden Eagles. With another home stand on deck, Harper will look to regroup and bring energy into their next challenge.
