Hawks Overpowered by #9 Rock Valley in Doubleheader

Palatine, IL: The Hawks faced a tough test on Friday afternoon, welcoming the #9 ranked Rock Valley Golden Eagles to town for a Region 4 doubleheader. Despite battling at the plate in game one, the Hawks ultimately fell in both contests—13-3 and 16-2, each in five innings. The losses drop Harper to 3-15 on the season.

In game one,
Taylor Nicholson got the start in the circle. The Hawks put together a strong offensive showing early, collecting eight hits against a top-tier Golden Eagles squad. Brianna Linnemann, Samantha Sok, Nicholson, and Ashlynn Fidalgo all recorded two-hit games, with Sok adding a double to her line. Sok, Nicholson, and Fidalgo each drove in a run to provide all of Harper's scoring in the opener.

Game two saw
Meghan Meyer take the mound, but the Golden Eagles continued their offensive dominance, pulling away quickly. Offensively, the Hawks were limited to just two hits—one each from Isabella Kmilek and Destiny Nino—as Rock Valley's pitching tightened up in the second half of the doubleheader.

Harper will look to bounce back quickly as they return to their home field tomorrow for a doubleheader against Kishwaukee.
