Hawks Split Slugfest Doubleheader with Cyclones

Palatine, IL: The Hawks lit up the scoreboard in game one of Monday's home doubleheader against the Moraine Valley Cyclones, winning 19-11 in five innings before falling 18-5 in game two. The split brings the Hawks' record to 4-18 on the season, with their offense continuing to show flashes of firepower.  

In the opener,
Taylor Nicholson earned her second win of the season in the circle, backed by a massive offensive outburst. Ashlynn Fidalgo led the way with two home runs and five RBIs in a breakout performance. Destiny Nino and Samantha Sok also went deep, while Sok and Nicholson each added a double. Nicholson a monster day at the plate, collecting four hits and driving in six runs. Gabriella Phillis added three singles and swiped a base as the Hawks racked up 19 runs in just five innings.  

Game two saw the Hawks come back to earth offensively.
Meghan Meyer started on the mound with Sammy Pracko providing relief, but Moraine Valley's bats stayed hot to take the win in another five-inning contest. Harper managed seven singles, with Fidalgo collecting two hits and an RBI. Nicholson added two more RBIs to cap off a big day personally.  

The Hawks will look to build off their game one explosion as they continue Region 4 play.
