Hawks Battle Through Region 4 Playoffs

Kankakee, IL: The Hawks left it all on the field during a hard-fought Region 4 double-elimination round robin tournament, facing off against the Prairie State Pioneers and the Kankakee Cavaliers across two intense days of postseason play.

Friday, May 9
The Hawks opened the playoffs with a thrilling 11-10 extra-inning win over Prairie State. The back-and-forth battle saw both teams exchange blows nearly every inning, but
Logan Sarna shut the door in the 10th to secure the win. The Hawks' offense exploded for 17 hits, including five extra base knocks. Connor Kave led the charge with a triple, a double, and two RBIs. Nick Drtina added a triple of his own, while Michael Mango, Dominic Jacoby, and Joey Glozier each doubled and drove in two.

In the nightcap, the Hawks struggled to carry their momentum against top-seeded Kankakee, falling 6-0.
Ethan Dorka pitched six strong innings, but the offense managed just three hits in the shutout loss.

Saturday, May 10
Facing elimination, the Hawks responded in a big way with an 11-7 win over the Cavaliers in their first game of the day.
Sarna earned his second win of the tournament with a gritty 5.2-inning outing. Drtina tripled, Glozier doubled, and Glozier once again led the team with three RBIs to force a decisive second matchup.

With both teams now having one loss, the Hawks and Cavaliers met once more to determine who would advance. In a dramatic finish to their postseason run, the Hawks came up just short, falling 8-7.
Drtina started on the mound and pitched six solid innings. The Hawks had the bases loaded in the ninth and looked poised for a walk-off, but Drtina's line drive was snagged in left field to end the game. Jacoby added a double and two RBIs in the season finale.

Though the season came to an end in heartbreak, the Hawks showed incredible grit, resilience, and competitive fire throughout the Region 4 playoffs. With key contributions from up and down the roster and several players stepping up in high-pressure moments, the Hawks laid a strong foundation for future success after having their best season since before
Coach Milano was even born.
