Hawks Competitive in Home Loss to #29 Rock Valley

Palatine, IL: The Hawks men's basketball team hosted the #29-ranked Rock Valley Golden Eagles on January 13 and played a competitive game before falling 82-76 in Region 4 action. The Hawks stayed close throughout and matched Rock Valley shot for shot in the first half, but the visitors gained separation in the second and held off Harper down the stretch.

Harper's offense was balanced and effective, led by Rashad Peeples' 16 points on efficient shooting including four made three-pointers. Joe Calombo Kimbirima added 15 points with strong rebounding and playmaking, and Wesley White contributed 10 points while battling inside against a tough front line. Kevin Edgecombe scored eight points and helped on the boards, and Anthony Hnilo chipped in eight points with hustle plays. Isaiah Manley finished with eight points and Oscar Engfors added four points, while Devyn Samaniego knocked down a three in limited action.

Harper shot a solid 47.6 percent from the field and made eight of 18 three-point attempts, keeping the Hawks within range through much of the contest. Rock Valley edged Harper in free throws and second-chance scoring, converting 19 of 24 free throws and securing more rebounds overall.
