Hawks Battle Top-30 Madison but Come Up Short

Palatine, IL: The Hawks women's basketball team fought through four quarters Tuesday night but fell 73–54 to #29 Madison College at Hawks' Fieldhouse. The Hawks kept the game within reach in each period but could not overcome Madison's depth and efficiency late.

Harper stayed competitive early, trailing 18–13 after the first quarter and 37–25 at halftime. The Hawks were able to match Madison in the third and fourth quarters in spirit if not on the scoreboard, scoring 15 and 17 points in those periods while continuing to battle on the glass.

Kinsley Stillman led the Harper effort with a team-high 13 points and 16 rebounds, giving the Hawks consistent toughness on the interior. Sophomore Gabriella Swanson added 4 points and 7 rebounds, continuing her season-long rebounding impact that has put her among the national leaders on the glass. Ariana Buss scored 13 points with five assists, and Zariela Myles chipped in 9 points while playing heavy minutes.

Harper struggled to find consistent offense from long range, making 4 of 25 three-point attempts, and turnovers were an issue as Madison turned extended possession opportunities into points. The Hawks did a solid job on the offensive glass with 12 offensive rebounds, but the overall shooting gap and Madison's balanced attack ultimately decided the game.
