Hawks Earn First Win of the Season in Road Thriller

Chicago Heights, IL: The Harper College men's basketball team captured its first victory of the 2025–26 season with a 78–76 road win over Prairie State College on December 6. In one of the most competitive games of the early season, the Hawks showed determination, balance, and poise down the stretch to secure the hard-fought win.

Harper's balanced offensive effort was evident from the opening tip.
Joe Calombo Kimbirima led the way with 18 points on efficient shooting, attacking the rim and contributing on the glass. Rashad Peeples also finished with 18 points, knocking down four three-pointers while keeping Harper in control of the perimeter attack. Isaiah Manley added 10 points with timely scoring and floor spacing, helping maintain offensive flow. Kevin Edgecombe scored eight points and pulled down five rebounds, while Oscar Engfors chipped in seven points and eight rebounds, adding energy and presence off the bench. Wesley White chipped in a couple of points while battling for rebounds.

Harper shot 44.9 percent from the field and connected on five of 18 three-point attempts, giving the Hawks enough offensive balance to stay in front when it mattered most. The team also made 11 of 15 free throws in critical moments, helping preserve a slim lead down the stretch.

The Pioneers countered with strong individual performances, but Harper's clutch scoring and consistent ball movement made the difference in a close second half. The road win snapped a tough early-season stretch and gave the Hawks a much-needed boost.
