Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Kimbirima With 25 in Second Game

Des Plaines, IL: The Hawks men's basketball team fought until the final second but fell 66-65 at Oakton Community College on Tuesday night in a game that came down to the final possession. The Hawks showed resilience, balanced scoring, and late-game poise in a matchup that remained tight from start to finish.

Harper was paced by
Joe Calombo Kimbirima, who delivered a game-high 25 points on 9-of-18 shooting with three made three-pointers. Rashad Peeples scored 18 points, hitting 5-of-7 from beyond the arc and helping keep the Hawks within striking distance all night. Kevin Edgecombe contributed seven points with 11 rebounds, and Oscar Engfors added four points, giving Harper effort and energy across the lineup. Isaiah Manley chipped in five points while contributing defensively, and Wesley White provided two points and eight rebounds as part of a strong all-around effort. Vanja and Marin Mrduljas scored in limited minutes and helped maintain intensity on both ends.

The game stayed close throughout, with Harper holding a 36-34 edge in the second half and competing in every phase. In the closing seconds,
Kimbirima received the ball near the top of the wing and launched a potential game-winning shot as time expired. The attempt rattled the rim and bounced out, leaving Harper just one point shy of victory.

Turnovers and missed free throws factored into the result, with Harper shooting 9-of-25 from the line on the night. Despite those challenges, the Hawks competed through the final whistle and showed grit on both ends of the court against a tough Oakton squad.
