Hawks Fall at Home to #9 South Suburban

Palatine, IL: The Hawks battled through a physical night but could not keep pace with #9 South Suburban, falling 95–66 in front of the home crowd. The Bulldogs used a dominant second half to open up the game after a competitive first 20 minutes, and Harper could not recover once South Suburban's size and depth took over.

Rashad Peeples led the Hawks with 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting and hit two triples while playing with his usual aggressiveness. Joe Calombo Kimbirima added 10 points, grabbing six rebounds and handing out four assists in 30 minutes. Kevin Edgecombe gave the Hawks energy in limited minutes with nine points on 3-of-3 shooting and six rebounds. Marin Mrduljas (Zagreb, HR/Technical School Zagreb) scored nine points and finished with four rebounds, and Oscar Engfors (/Katrinelundsgymnasiet) chipped in six points. Wesley White (/Lake Norman Christian / West Cabarrus / Hickory Ridge / Queens Grant) added four points and two rebounds, Darrion Pippen had six points, and Miloš Merrick provided some late bench activity. The team finished with 30 rebounds, 11 assists, and 17 turnovers. Harper shot 43.5 percent from the field, 25 percent from three, and 62.5 percent from the line.

Turnovers and transition chances proved costly as South Suburban converted repeatedly off miscues and forced a number of contested shots. The Bulldogs pulled away in the second half with efficient scoring and a stronger presence on the offensive glass, while Harper's offense stalled through several extended stretches.a high clip in transition and in the half court, which helped them sustain a double-digit lead for much of the game.
