Game Recap: Men's Baseball |

Hawks Sweep Elgin, Extend Winning Streak to Five

Palatine, IL: The Hawks baseball team stayed hot on Saturday, sweeping a home doubleheader against Elgin Community College to extend its winning streak to five games. The Hawks improved to 5-2 against Division II Region 4 opponents with the 11-10 and 6-4 victories.

Game one was a wild back-and-forth battle that tested the Hawks' resilience. After building an early lead, Harper surrendered a 10-run third inning to fall behind, but responded with a relentless comeback to secure the 11-10 win.

The offense was powered by six extra-base hits, including three home runs from
Brayden Clancy, Connor Kave, and Kevin Geake. Geake also added a double and finished with three RBIs, while Collin Roche contributed two RBIs. Alex Tabbert chipped in with a triple as the Hawks continued to produce from top to bottom in the lineup.

On the mound,
Aaron Buckholtz was outstanding in relief, shutting the door after Elgin's big inning. He tossed 4.2 scoreless innings, allowing just three hits while striking out five to earn the win and stabilize the game for Harper.

In game two, the Hawks once again had to battle back. Elgin jumped out to a 4-2 lead after two innings, but Harper answered with a four-run third inning to take control and never gave it back in a 6-4 victory.

The Hawks recorded three extra-base hits, highlighted by a home run from
Aidan Nohava, while Clancy and Roche each added doubles. Owen Anderson contributed on the basepaths with a stolen base.

Gavin O'Neil continued his strong stretch on the mound, earning the win after striking out nine over four innings. Cal Korosa closed things out with three scoreless innings to pick up the save and secure the sweep.

With the two wins, the Hawks continue to build momentum as they move deeper into their schedule. Harper will look to keep rolling when they host Illinois Central College in a Region 24 matchup on Wednesday the 25th.
