Hawks Roll Past Joliet 16–3 for First Win Over Region 4 Foe

Joliet, IL: The Hawks baseball team kept its momentum rolling on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Joliet Junior College 16–3 in a seven-inning game shortened from the scheduled nine. The Hawks exploded for 12 runs in the second inning and never looked back, securing their second win of the young season.

Connor Kave led the offensive onslaught, going 3-for-3 with three singles and two RBIs. The Hawks' massive second inning featured RBI hits from up and down the lineup. Kave, Kevin Geake, Michael Mango, Alex Tabbert, and Aidan Nohava all drove in runs during the frame, while Cooper Nelson capped the rally with a three-run triple to right-center. The Hawks added two more runs in the third as Nohava drew a bases-loaded walk and Kave was hit by a pitch to extend the lead.

On the mound,
Griffin Kelly earned the win, striking out seven over three innings while allowing just three hits and two unearned runs. The bullpen was outstanding in relief, as Aaron Buckholtz, Erick Colon, Evan Fahey, and Cal Korosa combined to shut down the Wolves over the final four innings.

The Hawks finished with 13 hits and showed patience at the plate, drawing 12 walks on the day.
Geake, Kave, Nelson, and Nohava each drove in two runs, while Tabbert and Mango added multiple hits apiece.

With the win, Harper improved to 2–1 against Division II and III opponents and 2–7 overall after a challenging early schedule. The Hawks will look to carry that offensive energy into Friday's matchup at Black Hawk College.
