Hawks Sweep Sauk Valley in Sunday Doubleheader

Palatine, IL: The Hawks' put together their strongest showing of the season on Sunday, sweeping Sauk Valley in a doubleheader with 8-5 and 7-6 victories. The pair of wins gives the Hawks valuable momentum heading into their next matchup.

In game one, Harper used a balanced offensive attack to secure the 8-5 win. Taylor Nicholson provided a spark with a solo home run, while Jordan Murtaugh, McKenzie Matzl, and Bella Kmilek each added doubles. Murtaugh and Matzl led the way with two RBIs apiece. In the circle, Whitney Schnack delivered a dominant performance, earning her second win of the season while striking out eight batters.

The second game was a back-and-forth battle that came down to the final inning. After the Hawks surrendered four runs in the top of the seventh to fall behind, they responded in dramatic fashion, scoring the game-winning run in the bottom half to claim a 7-6 victory. Schnack continued her standout day, hitting a home run and driving in two runs while also picking up the win in relief. Julianna Gonzalez added two RBIs, and Gabi Phillis contributed with a double and an RBI.

With the sweep, the Hawks showed resilience and timely hitting, key signs of progress as the season continues. Harper will look to carry that momentum into their next game against Triton on April 21st.
