Hawks Open 2026 Season Against MATC

Milwaukee, WI: The Harper women's soccer team opened its 2026 season on Wednesday, September 2, traveling to Milwaukee to take on the Milwaukee Area Technical College Stormers.

The Hawks faced challenging conditions throughout the match as extreme heat and humidity tested both teams. Interim head coach Steven Gomez relied on Harper's depth, rotating players throughout the contest to keep the Hawks as fresh as possible on the pitch.

Despite the effort, Harper fell 3-0 to the Stormers.

The matchup marked the first meeting between Harper and MATC since 2017, when the Hawks earned a dominant 13-1 victory. Much has changed since that meeting, as MATC has rebuilt its program while Harper is currently working to build its own foundation for the future.

Despite the result, Gomez saw signs of potential from the Hawks throughout the match and is excited about the opportunity to continue working with the team as the season progresses.

Harper will look to build on the experience and continue improving as the Hawks move forward in the 2026 season. The Hawks will face Region 4 powerhouse South Suburban next.
