On September 26, 2006 the Harper College Board of Trustees voted to modify the board Policy on College Colors and Mascot. The color change exemplified shared governance in action.

The Student Senate unanimously voted to change the colors and forwarded their request to the Student Life Committee who recommended the change to the College Assembly who then recommended the action to the President.

The new colors, blue and silver, were adopted to bring recognition and consistency to the athletic program.

In 2005 the Athletic Department along with Marketing Services developed a standard for the athletic logo and colors that were consistent with the College communication colors.

The logo was designed to give the students a dynamic and memorable image, with updated colors, that exemplifies school spirit, leadership, strength and pride. The logo is consistent with the world class image of Harper College. The new logo became a registered trademark for Harper College in April of 2008.

Since then the entire athletic department has undergone a makeover. Updated facilities and colors have made the Wellness and Sport Center a showplace for athletic achievement. Completion of the Hall of Fame in time for the Higher Learning Commission campus visit was a crowning achievement for athletics.

Today the hawk logo is highly visible on the campus and on the internet. Students, faculty, staff, family and friends proudly display their spirit wear locally and around the country.
