Before Harper
Schau's coaching career started in 2019 with the Slammers Training Academy working with youth baseball players. In 2021, Schau started coaching at Glenbrook North under former Harper All-American Dom Savino. During his first season he was the JV pitching coach but in 2022 he was promoted to the varsity pitching coach. During his time at Glenbrook North, the Spartans won two regional championships and one conference championship. In his last season with the Spartans, the team finished with an impressive 27-9 record. The pitching at Glenbrook North excelled under Schau boasting a 2.52 era in 233.1 innings pitched with 272 strikeouts and only 88 walks. 

Baseball has always been a large part of Coach Schau's life. He graduated from Maine South in 2015, where he played varsity baseball for three years. During that time there, he won 11 games as a pitcher while starting in the outfield his junior and senior seasons. He won a regional championship his junior year and senior year he was recognized as an All-Area Honorable Mention throwing 64 innings with a 1.42 ERA, 46 Ks, 11 BBs, and a 7-2 record. 

Schau played collegiately as well. He played for two seasons at Madison finishing with a 9-4 record in 84 innings pitched with two complete games. In 2017, he finished with a 3.74 era in 54.2 innings pitched with 52 strikeouts and 18 walks. Schau's college career was unfortunately cut short due to a shoulder injury.

Coach Schau is currently a pitching instructor and coach at Slammers Training Academy. He is close to graduating with a degree in kinesiology from Concordia.
