Ivan Patterson

Ivan Patterson is entering his second season as the assistant coach for the Hawks.

Patterson has been coaching since youth basketball in the Chicagoland area since 2002, including 16 years in Hessville, Indiana with Hessville Hoops, (compiling a record of 245-43, with 5 undefeated seasons) and a 4-year stint in the Northwest Indiana Catholic Youth Organization.

In 2018, Patterson was appointed Associate Director of A3 Athletics, an AAU program based out of Chicago, where he was also the Head 16U Boys coach. Patterson assisted with the monitoring of academic progress of student-athletes, was responsible for compiling and processing academic information on student-athletes, which included: preparing pre-application binders for: college admissions; this included: pre-application binders containing pre-applications for admission, transcripts, test scores, progress reports, and high school profile. He successfully developed and implemented the recruiting program for A3 Athletics which had a direct impact on placing several players on varying college rosters.

Coach Patterson has the distinction of having coached in the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase and Prep Hoops Indiana Top 250 Expo, each, 4 times.

He has mentored countless athletes in both physical and mental toughness and knowledge of the game. In his current role Patterson is responsible for player scouting, practice and game planning, game day operations, planning and coordinating recruiting visits, coordinating the recruiting database and mailing system. Coach Patterson is also responsible for scheduling meetings with coaches and prospective student-athletes, travel reservations for Coaching staff during recruiting period and for prospective student-athletes during visits.
