Tyler Block

Tyler Block joined the Harper coaching staff in the fall of 2021. His specialization is horizontal jumps, but he also works with the sprints and relays.

On the women's side, Block helped coach the 2023 and 2024 teams to their second and third national championships in school history. Half of the women's indoor top ten marks for long jump and five out of six marks for triple jump come from Coach Block's time with the program, including both the indoor and outdoor records for triple jump set by
Natalia Pocica in 2025. For outdoor, half of the women's top ten marks for triple jump and three of the marks for long jump come from his time as well.

He has coached 11 different women to
40 NJCAA DIII All-American honors and 13 different women to 53 USTFCCCA All-American honors.

On the men's side, Block has helped the men improve each year through his first four seasons. Two of the men's indoor top ten marks for long jump and one for triple jump come from Coach Block's time with the program. For outdoor, one of the marks for long jump comes from his time as well.

He has coached 13 different men to
27 NJCAA DIII All-American honors and 22 USTFCCCA All-American honors.

Personal
Tyler graduated from Conant High School in 2014 where he competed in soccer and track & field for the Cougars all 4 years. He competed for the Hawks 2015 (National Runner-Ups)/2016 (3rd place nationally) track and field teams and 2015/2016 soccer teams before transferring to Illinois State University. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Information Systems in 2019 and participated on the ISU XCTF club teams. He is a vulnerability analyst at Capital One.
