Geoff Durian enters his second season as an assistant coach for the Harper Hawks softball program after joining the staff ahead of the 2025 season. Durian brings decades of coaching experience across multiple sports, along with a long-standing career in higher education.
Outside of athletics, Durian has served as an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Harper College for more than two decades, beginning his tenure at the institution in 1999. His academic background and years of teaching have helped shape his analytical approach to coaching and player development.
Durian has extensive experience in softball at the travel level, where he has coached for more than 15 years. Most notably, he served as the head coach of the Lisle Slammers Softball program from 2016 to 2024, helping guide and develop numerous athletes throughout their competitive careers.
In addition to softball, Durian has an extensive football coaching background spanning 30 years at both the high school and collegiate levels. He previously coached football at Harper College from 2008 to 2011 and was part of the Hawks’ staff that won the NJCAA Football National Championship in 2008.
As a student-athlete, Durian played college football at Washington University in St. Louis. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Washington University and later completed a second Bachelor of Science in Pure Mathematics from Purdue University. He also holds a Master of Science in Pure Mathematics from Northern Illinois University.
Durian’s combination of coaching experience, academic expertise, and long-standing connection to Harper College continues to make him a valuable member of the Hawks softball staff.
