Dan Lowry just finished as a volunteer assistant track and field coach. Lowry was the national champion in hammer for the Hawks in 2013. Lowry went on to compete at North Central College and is using his expertise to assist in throws and weight training.

On May 5, 2016, Lowry was recognized by the USTFCCCA as the Central Region Men's Assistant Coach of the Year. The award was on the basis of his work with Harper All-American Laith Kanan, who had high rankings in the hammer, discus, and shot put entering the national meet. Prior to nationals, Lowry helped guide three top-10 shot putters, three top-10 discus throwers, and three top-10 hammer throwers.
