Justin Orr joins the Harper College men’s basketball program as Head Assistant Coach ahead of the 2026-2027 season, bringing more than 18 years of playing, coaching, and player development experience to the program. Orr’s passion for basketball and commitment to helping student-athletes grow both on and off the court have been central to his career.
Orr began his coaching career as a volunteer coach at La Salle High School in Cincinnati, where he spent seven years working with student-athletes and developing his approach to player development. He later joined the Schaumburg High School basketball program, serving as the Head Assistant Varsity Coach for two seasons under current Harper College Head Coach Jason Tucker.
As a player, Orr competed at the NCAA Division I level at Murray State from 2004–06. During his time with the Racers, the team advanced to the NCAA March Madness Tournament, where Murray State faced North Carolina in a closely contested first-round matchup.
Orr continued his collegiate playing career at Ohio University from 2006–09, where he was named team captain. He also earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Communications from Ohio University.
Throughout his career, Orr has developed a strong passion for helping players reach their potential. With more than 18 years of player development experience, he focuses on building confidence, accountability, and the skills needed to succeed both on and off the court.
Orr is also the owner and creator of LifeAfterCollegeAthletics.com, a platform focused on helping current and former student-athletes navigate life after college athletics. The platform connects student-athletes with established professionals across a variety of industries, as well as former athletes who have successfully transitioned into careers outside of sports. Through career opportunities and mentorship, the goal is to help athletes discover their next step after their playing careers come to an end.
Orr’s passion for basketball extends beyond wins and losses. He is committed to using the game as a tool to develop young people, build relationships, and prepare student-athletes for success long after their playing careers are over. At Harper, Orr will bring his experience as a Division I player, coach, and player developer to help build a strong foundation for the program and support student-athletes in reaching their goals.
