MADISON, Wis. – The Harper College men's soccer team ended their two-game losing streak on Wednesday, defeating host Madison College 2-0. The Hawks got goals from
Patrick Norr (Chicago, Ill., Lincoln Park) in the 33rd minute and an insurance tally from
Diego Caldera (Elk Grove, Ill., Elk Grove) in the 82nd minute. Both goals were assisted by
Lorenzo Savino (Barrington, Ill., Fremd).
Jorge Caballero (Palatine, Ill., Palatine) made 7 saves in goal to notch the shutout.
"We rebounded well from last game, possessing the ball for more of the game and getting a lot more chances," said head coach Jason Diebold. "We had some unfortunate shots go off the crossbar and their goalkeeper made several saves to prevent us from getting a bigger lead. On the defensive end, we played better. A few mistakes allowed them to get several chances but Jorge played solid, saving several close range shots to preserve the shutout."
Harper (5-7, 5-4 N4C) begin the postseason next week. Dates and locations are still to be determined.
