PEORIA, Ill. – The Harper women's cross country team ran at the Bradley Pink Classic on Friday at the Newman Golf Course. The Hawks placed as the second junior college in the Women's White Race and came in 11th place overall (260 points) as a team in the meet.
Silvia Catalan (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) ran an excellent race for the Hawks, taking 43rd place overall in a time of 25:20.9 on the 6K course. Stephanie Chaires (Palatine, Ill./Christian Liberty), running in her first meet of the year with the team, took 59th place in a time of 26:04.8. Itzel Sotelo (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) was right behind Chaires, crossing the finish line in 26:06.2 for a 60th place finish.
Maria Barajas (/Schaumburg) came in 74th place with a time of 26:57.1, and Marisa Andreuccetti (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Conant) rounded out the top-five for the Hawks with an 84th place finish in 27:52.4. Cynthia Siddiqui (/Palatine) took 100th place, crossing the finish line in 29:28.8.
Host Bradley University earned top team honors with 36 points. South Dakota State University (56 points) finished runner-up, followed by third place Saint Louis University (97 points).
Harper now gears its efforts towards the Region IV Championship hosted by College of DuPage on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 11 AM at the St. James Farm Forest Preserve in Warrenville.
