Women's Cross Country

Hawks Close Regular Season at Bradley Pink Classic

Peoria, IL: The Harper women's cross country team wrapped up its regular season on Friday afternoon at the Bradley Pink Classic, hosted by Bradley University at Newman Golf Course. The women's 6k race began at 12:45 p.m., marking Harper's return to a meet they've competed in annually since 2012.

Adding a splash of color to the day, the Hawks debuted their new pink singlets in support of breast cancer awareness month. The Newman Golf Course layout featured an initial 2,000m flat loop, followed by two repeats of the rolling inner 2,000m loop before the final straightaway. It's a challenging yet fair course that tested rhythm and endurance.

Harper's duo of
Kasey Ledinsky and Natalia Pocica ran side by side for much of the race, maintaining consistent pacing throughout the 6k. Ledinsky crossed the line in 162nd, followed closely by Pocica in 165th out of a field of 220 runners. While neither runner set a season best, both turned in solid performances that showcased the consistency they've built this fall with times of 26:45 and 26:47.

Several Harper alumni were also in action at the meet representing their four-year programs.
Brianna Ruiz placed 90th for North Central College with a time of 24:30, Ashley Harrison finished 151st for Aurora University in 26:11, and Tessa Puchalski crossed the line in 194th for Benedictine University with a time of 29:24.

With the regular season now complete, both
Pocica and Ledinsky sit among the top 10 nationally in the NJCAA DIII rankings for the 6k distance.

The Hawks will next compete at the Region 4 Championship, hosted by College of DuPage at Settler's Hill Cross Country Course in Batavia.
