PALATINE, Ill. – The Harper College men's soccer team and visiting N4C foe Triton College were locked in a scoreless tie after one half of play. It was the Trojans who finally broke through for two second half goals to lift them to a 2-0 victory over the Hawks.

The Hawks (2-3, 1-3 N4C) applied some pressure in the early going, but Triton (5-2, 2-1 N4C) goalkeeper Borys Kapinos was up to the challenge. Elliot Lara (/Home School) and Matt Kitsis (Huntley, Ill./Huntley) each had good looks on goal but were denied. Starsky Correa (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) and Amir Dajani (Huntley, Ill./Huntley) also challenged Kapinos with blistering shots but could not find the net.

Triton also kept Harper goalkeeper Irvin Velazquez (/Hersey) on his toes in the first half. The Trojans had four breakaway chances but Velazquez denied the scoring opportunities.

After a slow start to the second half for both teams, it was Triton who finally broke through in the 62nd minute, as Milos Sretkovic beat Velazquez to give the Trojans a 1-0 edge. The Trojans pushed the advantage to 2-0 in the 79th minute as midfielder Raymundo Manjarrez took a deflected ball and blasted it into the far left side of the net.

Harper looks to get back on track as they travel to Rock Valley College (3-4, 2-2 N4C) for a conference matchup on Friday at 4 PM.
