Box Score JOLIET, Ill. – Midfielder Matt Shadel (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) put the Hawks on the board with just nine minutes into the game at Joliet Junior College, but that goal would not hold up. Miguel Sanchez scored two goals for Joliet (6-4-1, 5-1-1 N4C) in a narrow 2-1 defeat of Harper (3-4-2, 2-4-1 N4C).
Shadel's goal, his second of the season, got past Wolves' goalkeeper Ramiro Ayala and came on an assist from Aldo Figueroa (Wheeling, Ill./Buffalo Grove). Harper maintained the 1-0 edge until Joliet evened the game at 1-1 in the 36th minute as Miguel Sanchez took a feed from Leatile Masula and beat Hawks goalkeeper Irvin Velazquez (/Hersey) for a goal.
Sanchez provided the game-winning goal 12 minutes into the second half on another assist by Masula. The Hawks could not score an equalizer in the game's closing minutes.
Harper is back on the pitch on Wednesday, Oct. 1 as they play host to Madison College (4-5-1, 4-2-1 N4C) at 4 PM.
