RIVER GROVE, Ill. – The Harper College women's soccer team closed out the regular season with a 5-1 road win at Triton College on Friday afternoon. The Hawks (8-7, 6-4 N4C) got two goals each from Gabrielle Mclaurin (/Barrington) and Kassidy Kushner (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) and a goal from Arianna Valero (Palatine, Ill. /Palatine).
Mclaurin scored on the Trojans (0-12-1, 0-9-1 N4C) in the 21st and 22nd minutes. The first of her two goals was assisted by Kushner. In the 32nd minute, Kushner tallied an unassisted goal to put the visitors ahead 3-0. Triton scored its lone goal of the match in the 33rd minute. Harper led 3-1 at intermission.
Kushner scored her second goal of the game and 17th of the season off an assist from Nicole Soderholm (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) in the 61st minute to put the Hawks up 4-1. Finally, Valero scored her first career college goal in the final minute of the contest on another assist from Soderholm.
Hawks goalkeeper Sonia Valencia (Wheeling, Ill/Wheeling) wasn't tested much in the game but earned the victory in net.
Third-seeded Harper and sixth-seeded Triton will square off in the Region IV Quarterfinals on Tuesday at 3 PM at Harper College. The winner will advance to the Region IV Semifinals to play second-seeded Rock Valley College (7-4).
