Hawks’ Season Ends to Richland College

ST PAUL, Minn. – The Harper College men's soccer team ran into a buzzsaw on Friday night in the Men's Semifinal of the District Championship. The Hawks saw their season end to third-ranked Richland (TX) College with an 8-1 defeat.

Richland (13-3-1) then defeated championship host Anoka-Ramsey Community College (14-4-0), 3-0, in the Men's Final on Saturday evening to advance to the 2015 NJCAA DIII Men's Soccer Championship.

The Thunderducks struck early and often as Michael Klodzinksi scored in the first minute off a feed from Oscar Ocampo. Ocampo got in the scoring act in the 12th minute on an assist from Pierre Bocquet to give Richland a 2-0 lead.

Harper (11-4-3) scored in the 18th minute as Angel Sarti (/Hoffman Estates) found the back of the net, beating Thunderducks goalkeeper Hugo Ruiz. Klodzinski scored his second goal of the match off an assist from Keyvn Bautista, and Ocampo tallied his second score on a pass from Ronan Fournier.

Mikkel Rohde scored two goals late in the first half to give the Thunderducks a 6-1 edge at intermission. Eduardo Ruiz and Keyvn Bautista assisted on the goals.

In the second half, Bautista and Jean Bonin scored goals in the 68th minute and 75th minute. Jordan Shankle and Giovanni Sosa assisted on those goals.

Harper goalkeeper Jacob Goldstein (Buffalo Grove, Ill. /Stevenson ) (10-3-3) faced a barrage of shots and made 16 saves. For Harper, Niko Mihaloupoulos and Colin O'Meara (Palatine, Ill/Palatine) had two shots apiece, while Sarti and Raul Alcala (/Schaumburg) each had a shot on goal.

While Harper's season is over, the Hawks had a highly successful 2015 under second year head coach Dan Klaus. Harper posted an 11-4-3 overall record and won both the North Central Community College Conference (N4C) crown and Region IV crown.
