Box Score

PALATINE, Ill. – Harper freshman forward Niko Mihalopoulos (Lake in the Hills, Ill./Huntley) showed his ability on the offensive end at Triton College on Wednesday afternoon. With the Hawks and Trojans tied at 1-1 in the 86th minute, Mihalopoulos scored his second goal of the game to give Harper a 2-1 win.

Mihalopoulos' goal came on an assist from Juan Hernandez (Wheeling, Ill./Wheeling) and helped the Hawks (5-2-2, 5-0-1 N4C) stay unbeaten in six conference contests. The Trojans fell to 5-3 overall and 3-3 in the N4C.

Triton found the back of the net first, as Bryan Aceves scored on a pass from Guillermo Ortega in the 23rd minute. The Trojans' lead didn't last for long, however, as Mihalopoulos knotted the score up at 1-1 with a goal. Forward Angel Sarti (/Hoffman Estates) assisted on the goal. Mihalopoulos tallied a game-high seven shots on goal.

Making his second start of the season, Matthew Wiklanski (Des Plaines, Ill/Elk Grove) made several key stops after allowing the early goal. Wiklanski (1-1-0) made 12 saves to pick up his first win as a college goalkeeper. Triton's Christian Carrasco made nine saves but was credited with the loss. Harper outshot Triton 18-13 in the game.

The Hawks travel to Madison, Wisconsin on Friday for a 4 PM match with Madison College. The WolfPack currently have a 5-2-2 overall record and 3-1-1 in N4C play, good for second place in the conference.

Other Notes: Niko Mihalopoulos (Lake in the Hills, Ill./Huntley) has a team-best four goals … the assist by Juan Hernandez (Wheeling, Ill./Wheeling) gives him four on the year, best on the team … the Hawks have scored 17 goals in nine games and have given up only 14 goals.
