Box Score CICERO, Ill. – Playing its third game in as many days, the Harper College women's soccer team had its three-match winning streak halted at Morton College on Monday evening, losing 2-1.
After a scoreless first half, the Panthers (5-3) scored first as Perla Castanon beat Hawks (5-5) goalkeeper Sonia Valencia (Wheeling, Ill/Wheeling) for a goal in the 53rd minute. Alexia Teran assisted on the goal.
In the 69th minute, Castanon tallied her second score of the game off an assist from Jacky Razo. Just moments later, Harper forward Kassidy Kushner (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) cut the deficit to 2-1 with her 14th goal of the year off an assist from Kristen Serviss (Huntley, Ill./Huntley).
The Hawks could not score the equalizer in the closing minutes. Morton outshot Harper, 15-12, in the game. Valencia made 10 stops but received the loss while Ashley Castanon made seven saves and got credit for the win.
Harper returns to the pitch on Wednesday afternoon at N4C rival College of DuPage (7-5, 5-0 N4C). The match is set to start at 4 PM.
