Box Score
Palatine, Ill- It took a little while for the Harper College men's soccer team to get on the board Saturday, but once they did they exploded. The Hawks (13-2-1) tallied five goals on the day without conceding to visiting Elgin Community College (4-10) in the first round of the Region IV playoffs.
After numerous chances early on, a set-piece would ultimately lead to the Hawks first goal. Ricky Choi, stepped up to a 20-yard direct free kick on the left side of the visitor's box and calmly deposited his strike into the upper left corner of the net to put the Hawks up 1-0.
Choi was hardly done for the day as the freshman would add two more goals and an assist in what would become a career day. Choi, has had a fabulous season for Harper, leading the team in goals and points (16 goals, 36 points).
Harper keeper,
Christian Hyde (/Conant) (3 Shutouts), made four saves on the afternoon and earned the shutout. Defensively, the Hawks stymied Elgin after allowing three goals to the Spartans just a week earlier.
Next up for the Hawks is Triton College in the Region IV semifinal match. The Hawks and Trojans split on the season with an aggregate score of 3-3. The match will be hosted by Harper on Oct. 19 at 2PM.
