PALATINE, Ill.- The Harper College men's soccer team avenged an early season loss to Triton College (7-2, 4-3 N4C) with a 2-1 victory on Wednesday. The Hawks (6-2, 5-2 N4C), against the run of play, were able to score the decisive goal with just three minutes remaining in the contest.
The visitors got on the board first when they were awarded, and finished a penalty kick just 15 minutes into the contest.
Down a goal, the Hawks evened the score with 9:40 left in the first half when
Jose Garcia Lopez (/Wheeling) found himself on the receiving end of a corner kick.
The second half was dominated by the visiting Trojans, but they were unable to find the finishing touch, something Harper would make them pay for in the end.
With only three minutes left in the contest, Harper's
Angel Sarti (/Hoffman Estates) collected the ball inside the 18-yard box, on a feed from
Fabian Tovar (/Palatine), and calmly finished the goal and the game.
The win tied the Trojans and Hawks for second in the N4C. The Hawks' next opponent is Madison Area Technical College, who leads the conference by a game. The game is on Sept. 23 at 4PM in Palatine.
