Box Score
PALATINE, Ill.- The top two men's soccer teams in the North Central Community College Conference (N4C) played to a scoreless draw on Friday afternoon. The home Harper College Hawks (6-2-1, 5-2-1 N4C) battled with the first-place Madison College Wolfpack (7-1-2, 4-1-1 N4C), but were unable to find their finishing touch.
Despite what the final score indicates, the 110-minute match was full of quality soccer and numerous scoring chances. Combined, the teams fired off 27 shots, forcing the keepers to earn their clean sheets. Harper keeper,
Christian Hyde (/Conant), made three saves in the game all in the first half.
The Hawks were dangerous throughout most of the match, led by Ricky Choi and
Angel Sarti (/Hoffman Estates), who were able to generate numerous goal-scoring opportunities. Harper consistently missed a victory by inches with shots just wide or over the bar.
With first place riding on the game, the Hawks and Wolfpack played relatively clean soccer, with only one yellow card being shown during the marathon match.
The draw dropped Harper to third-place in the N4C behind second-place Triton College and first-place Madison College. The Hawks have completed their season series with both teams.
Up next for Harper is Joliet Junior College (3-7-1, 3-2-1 N4C) on Sept. 28 in Joliet, IL. The Hawks defeated the Wolves earlier in the season 5-1 in Palatine.
