Box Score PALATINE, IL-  The Harper College men's soccer team traveled to Madison, WI to take on the Madison College WolfPack in the Region IV Semifinals on Wednesday.  The match would end in a 5-1 defeat for the Hawks, ending their season.

Coming into the match, both teams were looking to earn the season series win after trading wins during the regular season.  The Hawks won the first matchup 3-2 in Madison, while the WolfPack won the second at Harper 1-0.  The match looked like it was going to be another close one, as it was 0-0 15 minutes in.  However, Madison was able to score three goals within five minutes each other to take the game from a scoreless tie into a one-sided match.  The Hawks were able to keep the WolfPack off the board for the remainder of the half, but still went into the break facing a 3-0 deficit.  Harper only put one shot on goal in the first half and were unable to take advantage of 13 WolfPack fouls.

The second half was eerily familiar to the first, as both teams remained scoreless through the first 20 minutes.  Once again, Madison would string goals together as they found the back of the net in the 66th and 72nd minute to make the score 5-0.  The Hawks refused to go quietly in the match as Danny Geary scored his first goal of the season with just under a minute to play.  Harper played disciplined defense as they only committed 11 fouls throughout the match, compared to Madison's 24.  However, Madison was able to outshoot the Hawks 18-15 and made their looks count as 12 of their shots were on frame.  Goalkeeper Christian Hyde (/Conant) finished his very strong season with 7 saves.

Hawks' leaders at the end of the season were Pedro Botello () (9 goals, 20 points), Cesar Velazquez () (5 assists), and Christian Hyde (/Conant) (77 saves, 5 shutouts).  Harper ends the 2017 season with a record of 9-7-1 (5-4-1 N4C).
