Season Ends in Madison

Box Score PALATINE, IL-  The Harper College women's soccer team traveled to Madison, WI for the Region IV Semifinals against the Madison College WolfPack.  The Hawks were unable to get revenge from the regular season and fell 3-1, ending their season.

After defeating Triton in the Quarterfinals, the #3 seeded Hawks were the visitors against the #2 seeded WolfPack.  The Hawks fell in two close games in the regular season and looked to take their momentum from the end of the regular season into the match.  During Harper's 7-match winning streak, the Hawks outscored their opponents 43-3.

In a matchup of two high-scoring teams, the first half actually saw minimal action as far as goal scoring goes.  In a disciplined half that only had 1 total foul, both teams played stellar defense keeping the other off the board.  However, in the 40th minute, Madison's top goal scorer Britt Schumann found the back of the net to put the WolfPack up 1-0.  At the end of the half, both teams had two shots on net.

A quicker paced second half created more action as Madison doubled their lead to 2-0 in the 59th minute on a goal by Tianna Sackett.  The Hawks would waste little time chipping away as Daniela Herrera () put Harper on the board in the 62nd minute.  The score would remain 2-1 in Madison's favor up until the 88th minute when Sackett scored her second goal of the match.  At the end of the 90 minutes, the Hawks would see their season end with a 3-1 defeat.

Harper finished the season at 12-7 and 7-5 in the N4C.  The Hawks were third in the nation with 91 goals and freshman Julia Szylke () tied for first in the nation with 40 goals.  Szylke added 11 assists to give her 91 points on the year, good for second in NJCAA.
