Box Score PALATINE, IL - The Harper College men's soccer team hosted the Joliet Junior College Wolves on Friday and ended the day with a 5-1 victory.
First half action began with both teams battling offensively and defensively. The Wolves had an opportunity to score in the 44
th minute, however,
Christian Hyde (/Conant) had a huge save for the Hawks, ending his 1
st half saves total with five. The Hawks, on offense, shot off 12 shots with six of them being shots on goal. The Wolves fought back with 10 shots of their own with five of them being shots on goal. Â Â
Different story in the beginning of the second half, as the Hawks strike first in the 49
th minute as
Pedro Botello () scored to break the 0-0 tie. However, the Wolves answered back with a score of their own in the 49
th minute. Both teams battled it out with each other from there on until the 57
th minute with
Pedro Botello () answering back for the Hawks to regain the lead at 2-1. Â
Ben Poder () added on to the lead in the 63
rd minute with a goal of his own to give the Hawks a 3-1 lead. In the 72
nd minute,
Ben Poder (), (yet again) added on the lead as Harper lead 4-1. The Hawks weren't done there as they extended their lead to 5-1 with the score of Jorge Leyva in the 81
st minute.
With the victory, the Hawks improve their record to 8-5-1 while having a 5-4-1 record in N4C play. Up next, the Hawks will host the Trojans of Triton College on Wednesday at 4pm. In their previous meeting, the Hawks fell to the Trojans, 6-1.
