Soccer Falls in Season Opener

The team received a strong effort from Christian Hyde with 10 saves.
Box Score PALATINE, IL- The 2017 Men's Soccer team opened the season Tuesday with a 1-0 loss at Waubonsee Community College.

Beginning the season with six newcomers in the starting lineup, the game remained scoreless until right before the end of the first half.  In the 42nd minute, the scoreless tie came to and end when Waubonsee forward Luis Correa-Cabral scored an unassisted goal.

The two teams continued to play a closely contested game until the final whistle with Correa-Cabral's goal being the only scoring for both sides.  Harper finished with 12 shots and 5 on goal.  Freshman forward Raphael de Souza contributed 6 shots, 3 of which were on frame.  The team received a strong effort from sophomore goalkeeper Christian Hyde (/Conant), who totaled 10 saves in the contest.

Harper's next game will be August 25 against the College of Lake County Lancers.  Kick-off for the 2017 Home Opener will be at 4pm at the stadium.
