Box Score PALATINE, IL-Â The Harper College women's soccer team hosted the College of DuPage Chaparrals in an N4C matchup on Wednesday and finished with a 4-0 win.
Both teams had scoring chances throughout the first half but neither could find the back of the net. Harper finished the first half with 7 shots on goal, while DuPage countered with 4 of their own but goalkeeper
Jasmine Carillo () kept the Chaparrals off the scoreboard. To begin the second half, the Hawks made some substitutions that paid dividends early and often.
In the 56th minute,
Julia Morales (/Schaumburg) let a rocket shot fly from outside the box that went by the DuPage goalkeeper to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead. Less than 2 minutes later,
Heily Ramirez (/Dundee-Crown) dribbled into the box before being tackled from behind, drawing a penalty kick that she hammered in to extend the lead 2-0. The score would remain the same for the next 10 minutes until
Christina Kim () set up
Ayulieth Garcia (/Maine West) on a great throughball that Garcia put in the net with a nice one touch finish. Yet again, the Hawks would add to the lead less than two minutes later after a pass from
Lauren Talesky () to
Christina Kim () in the box gave Harper a 4-0 lead. The Hawks were well on their way to victory but second half goalkeeper
Briana Orozco () kept the shutout intact with a great save with 3 minutes remaining in the match.
With Wednesday's victory, the Hawks move to 3-2 (2-2 N4C) on the season. Harper will travel to Elmhurst College on Thursday for a 4pm matchup against the BlueJays.
